Ok, I managed to get my measurement setup running. Behringer ECM8000/PC soundcard kind of thing.I measured the following tweeters:Focal TLRTAD PT-R9Aurum Cantus G1Fane 5022I don't have an absolute level calibrator and I need to take ...

So, two almost two years later and this contraption is still in my room and "ain´t goin nowhere" :-)Guys, I became obsessed with horn speakers and specially with Onkyo product so I would like to share with you my latest experiences. The speakers I tal...

Romy, I think that your problem is that you stuck in past with your existing experience. You never tried latest JBLs. You never tried LeCleach profiles. You have your own reasons not do it. But I don't see any reasons to comment others experience in t...

Ok, did today the Red’s tweeters. Got rid of the original Tannoy’s
cable mounting plate and ran my own cable directly from twitter. Drove it with Milq’s full range channel. Used
the speaker level 2uf cap (my favorite high voltage eQube coupling cu...

Yes, I implied the different between my and you tweeters that would make in my case the bug to be larger in amplitude. HOWEVER, even in context of ONLY my or ONLY your system the bug still exists, irrelevant to the fact that our systems have differen...

I think we have been using the wrong analogy here, trying to compare sound to painting in the sense that it is not about adding things to sound as much as taking off.I believe the right analogy would be sculpting: In order to get a good sound, one ...

I don't think Romy is interested in surround sound and back channels, but he might well add a treble channel firing in a different direction than his ribbon tweeters, so he could try to get the space and "harmonics spread" he can experience from his ...
I use regular Lowther DX4 (ENABLED) . I don't think the 250-400 is stellar and I'm still waiting for the extension to try small throat for lower midrange (2,75") (B&C 8P21E driver) for 200-1000Hz .
Look...

Vasyachkin,
I have different view about “modifying products” as any product is always implying something very generic but I have my own needs. Probably not “modifying” but adopting would be better but it is not the subject in here.
If you read my s...

Ok Thanks Romy.It might be worth a try then . In worst case I can afford to buy these, with luck I may be able to borrow a pair .I will report back eventually , but at this stage the project is just forming, as the horns are only just ordered from Ma...

Romy, have you not seen the Duevel horns? 360 dispersion. Not sure I spelled that correctly; I might be thinking of the beer...It's easier than 48 or 64 tweeters arranged multicells fashion:-OcheersPS ...

OK, now you have to keep going, because from this alone one "comes to the conclusion" that the tweeter to use is the one that goes way up there, like the "diamond" or Be, etc. So, now you have to tell us to find wide-range paper tweeters that run wi...

I never heard SS that could match a 45, but I have heard SS that has "less SS sound". Given your stated objectives going in, I "recommend" finding a more polite SS amp for the tweeters. Not much EMF, and I suppose not much power required? A couple of...

You might change your mind after you put the PP2000 into the game. Anyhow, I do not know what Bruce did with his Titans tweeter; I do not even remember it they are in time-aligned position. The EdgarHorn Titans uses Fane ST-5022 bullet tweeter. I had...

Open up ,,,??,,,,What are tweeters supposed to do ?? remember everything below 5K is the fundamentals of all musicle instruments,,Every thing above are the harmonics,,, A key of C of a violin or a key of C of a viola,, What will disquindish the diff...
Regarding your HF: Do you use a naked ribbon over 10k? If the PP2000 has worked for you, you might want to try it.
Well, I will try the PP2000 after I have finished evaluating the new 2A3 tubes. The EdgarHorn Titans use a...

Perhaps this scandinavian has a pair of tweeters to sell.http://www.transmissionaudio.com/ourspeakers.htmlYou'll be happy to read about the alternative ways to use some of his speakers:* two-way communication at an airport check-in* 3D-capacity Earth...

"I really do not know. It sounds to me as purely speculative subject. I do not know how RAAL ribbons sound and I am not a big fan of ionic tweeters as I never seen them to work successfully with any other type of transducer."I have heard them work ve...
I think that amount of users out there who would be able to take advantage of HDCD filters is no higher than the amount of people who would be able to play the files with no filter at all.
Maybe. But there is a BIG di...

Works by heating the air. Similar in function to plasma tweeters.Could be promising for midband i think. Might be too slow in cooling in high frequencies. Its not linear though. Needs to be equalised...http://www.engadget.com/2008/11/04/carbon-nanotub...

I always thought that I have to have a dedicated thread where I would upload all those unhappy emails that audio-morons from around the world send me. This is so entertaining and surprisingly demonstrable! Here is I got just now. It comes from Kerry ...

I'm wrapping up my horn building activities and have some leftover items available. 1) Edgarhorn 80Hz Mid-bass horns - Pick-up in Seattle - $350Condition - 8/10 based solely on age. No visible imperfections. They are in the identical condition as...

They paid attention to time-alignment, good - but the tweeters location near a large reflective surface might be problematic. It looks like a 1kHz tractrix horn to me (maybe 800Hz). I have one though it's from Stereo Lab....

To my ears the Duevel Sirius has some kind of false transparency I also know from The Focal titanium tweeters, so maybe there are metal artefacts, but I didn't find if painful or annoying. Nevertheless, I find this is an unnecessary gimmick, so m...

Hmmm...
I like my tweeters +/- "matched" in terms of efficiency, but I am not starting out at 115 dB efficiency. Sure, headroom, practically speaking, is more than a mere luxury. However, is it really that hard to wring out a tweeter, and how muc...

For sure it is an interesting design. I do not know how they dealt Fostex compression and why they need to customize the tweeters that were made for them "by hands in Toking one by one". Would it be easier to induce the customization into the custom ...

Welcome Sean19, Another member should correct me where I am wrong. There should be some tweeters that just start emitting in their proper frequency range and do not need a crossover. They might need a resistor so that they are volume balanced to ...

Geez , good for him ! Coming out of Banana Republic and trying to make a name for himself. Who can afford $4k tweeters if not Hollywood ?? I guess he realized that he wasted enough of his time with loosers ;0) Anyway what (mostly) am...

You could source used TAD tweeters for ~$1K pair .They sound exceptionally smooth and extended .More so than infamous T-350 and with better "tone" which may be relevant since your 288 are tonaly "dead" according to the Cat. Who knows, he may be right...

Congratulations on building and arriving at a place where you are happy. It is often difficult to know when to finish persuing something in life. I am sure you will enjoy litening to music more without listening out for areas you can improve on.Aside...
